Distilleries of Scotland
Whisky distilleries have been a lively subject for developing a simplified style of painting buildings in the landscape. The mostly utilitarian buildings with clearly functional forms (chimney and pagodas) give pleasing composition. The western Isles setting allows for dramatic seascapes, while more mountainous landscapes give the landmark buildings scale. The innovative architecture of the new Macallan distillery was a different challenge altogether with the Rogers Stirk Harbour building reflecting the surrounding hills of Speyside in its form.

This gallery is different in that I have retained images of sold paintings to show the scope of the project.
